Graduation Year: MD 2010
Concentration Title:
A Dynamic Systems Analysis of Gender Development in Infants
Concentration Description:
Over the summer between first and second year, I worked full-time doing research under the direction of Anne Fausto-Sterling and Cynthia Garcia-Coll. I also worked in the lab part-time throughout my second year of medical school. For the research project, “A Dynamic Systems Analysis of Gender Development in Infants,” I analyzed recorded footage of first born infants and their mothers to determine how their interactions shape one another's behavior, with a focus on gender differences among the infants. The research is ongoing, with the collaboration of undergraduates and a full-time post-doctoral fellow.
The Scholarly Concentrations Program is an elective program through which Alpert Medical School students may elect to pursue a course of study beyond that of the conventional medical education curriculum.
